RYA Shorebased Courses

Our RYA shorebased courses are designed to complement the RYA practical schemes.

Taking a one-day course will enable you to extend your knowledge and skills in a specialist area and some courses, such as the Short Range Certificate, are a prerequisite for higher qualifications such as the RYA Yachtmaster® Certificate of Competence.

Our longer courses (40hrs) typically run over a six week period (two evenings per week) or four or five days of intensive tuition.

RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster

Provides the candidate with a knowledge of the advanced theory of navigation and meteorology.

RYA Safety & Navigation Course

Benefits those who have perhaps some practical experience of small boats, but no understanding of the theoretical subjects of navigation and chart work. It is equally suitable as an introductory course for those contemplating the purchase of their first boat and wishing to have some understanding of navigation before venturing out on to the sea.

RYA Radar Course

Teaches students to use small boat radar to assist decision making in collision avoidance, pilotage and navigation.
