Coastal Skipper Practical
The more ambitious motor cruising
skipper can improve his or her skills on a Coastal Skipper
course.
This course provides tuition in the skills and techniques
required to skipper a motor cruiser, of at least 7m in length,
safely on coastal and offshore passages, by day and night.
The course consists of skippered passages in a whole variety
of situations, on tidal waters, and includes tuition regarding
safety, passage planning, pilotage by day and night, boat
handling and emergency situations.
The course culminates in a one-day practical examination
by an outside examiner appointed by the RYA.
Successful candidates will be issued with the RYA Coastal
Skipper Certificate.
